West Ham are the next team in the firing line of a rampant Manchester City when they host the league leaders this weekend in the Premier League. Two draws and a win from their last three does suggest Manuel Pellegrini’s team are starting to find some form after a tough start to the season. However they are up against a side that has banged in 15-goals in their last four games and going in search of a fifth straight league win. Form Labs break down the action with their betting preview and tips for the game and if you are looking for more value then check out our massive selection of enhanced odds and accumulators for the weekend’s games from across Europe.
Manchester City Hitting Top Form
Man City are really up and running now with 11 wins from 12 unbeaten games since their 2-1 defeat hosting Lyon back in September. They’ve ramped up their output in the final third and have even won by at least a five-goal margin in a third of these games, including 6-1 and 6-0 victories over Southampton and Shakhtar Donetsk respectively within their last three outings. Their latest victims came laden with hope after United were boosted by their midweek triumph away at Juve – no mean feat in itself – and the gulf in class was utterly apparent from the first whistle at the Etihad.
West Ham Injury Concerns
The Hammers had to come from behind to earn a draw at second-from-bottom Huddersfield in their last match, trailing for 68 minutes in that game, leaving them with just the single victory in their last five league outings. That came hosting Burnley, who aren’t the best of travellers anyway, while their injury list remains substantial despite the recovery time some players received over the international break. Indeed, as many as eight players are still absent including the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere, Manuel Lanzini and Winston Reid. By contrast, though City have a few doubts to go along with long-term absentee Kevin de Bruyne, the reality is they have plenty of cover within the depths of their talent-packed squad.
Man City Dominant Over West Ham
Manchester City have won all five matches against West Ham across all competitions since Guardiola arrived in England, scoring at least three goals in all but one of these games as they won by at least two clear strikes in four as well. The Hammers have beaten Man Utd, drawn with Chelsea and been unlucky to lose 1-0 to Spurs at the London Stadium this season, but the Citizens in their current mood a different kettle of fish. Pellegrini’s men lost 4-0 against Liverpool earlier in the season, meaning they’ve shipped four goals in seven of their last 18 versus Big Six sides (three 4-0 and four 4-1). We’re backing City to cover the -2 handicap and given three of the Chilean’s seven defeats to Guardiola’s Barcelona in La Liga finished 4-1, we’ll take a punt on the correct score.
Manchester City v West Ham Betting Tips
While Sergio Aguero inevitably leads the goalscoring market and has nine goals in 13 appearances against the Hammers across all competitions, we prefer Riyad Mahrez at the prices. The Algerian winger has usurped Leroy Sane in the team and now has four goals in his last six league appearances and given the first couple of these games saw him enter the fray from the bench, that works out at a goal every 63 minutes. On the road, Mahrez has produced four goals and an assist this season in total, and should have plenty of space down that right-hand side. Indeed, West Ham have concentrated attacks down their left flank to get the most from Felipe Anderson, who likes to dribble inside with the full-back overlapping him, leaving acres for Mahrez to exploit when they lose the ball.
Man City 4-1 Correct Score At 15.5
Mahrez To Score Anytime At 1.95
