Blue Point was the star of the show earlier on this week when he got the better of Battaash in the King’s Stand Stakes, and today he bids for the big sprint double in the Diamond Jubilee.
He’s pretty adaptable in trip and has lots top level form at today’s distance of six furlongs, including when winning on Dubai World Cup night at Meydan in March.
Today he faces rivals that he has beaten in the past and as long he’s recovered from his race earlier in the week he should do the sprint double for Charlie Appleby and James Doyle.
The opening Chesham Stakes is a race Aidan O’Brien has a good record in, and it’s informative he runs maiden winner Lope Y Fernandez. His debut success was scintillating as he powered clear of two well bred stablemates.
That victory win was over seven furlongs and he will face the same test today. Ryan Moore is in the saddle and in my eyes the pair are the final day banker.
O’Brien and Moore also team up with So Perfect, who at the start of the week had the option of running in the Commonwealth Cup or today’s Jersey Stakes.
Hopefully today’s seven furlong option proves the right choice. Going into the week the Scat Daddy filly was one of my main fancies and hopefully the dual Group three winner can land this Group Two.
Max Dynamite is the highest rated runner in the concluding race of the week and if he can reproduce his run from last year’s Doncaster Cup he should prove too good for today’s rivals.
Moore teams up with Willie Mullins this time and they’ve had Royal Ascot success in the past. Hopefully he can help finish the week in style.
