Having won the Aintree Grand National for the second year running with Tiger Roll, Gordon Elliott could be in line for a second Irish Grand National in as many years when he saddles no less that twelve runners in Monday’s feature at Fairyhouse.
Shattered Love disappointed in the Cheltenham Gold Cup but stepping back into a handicap company looks to have a big chance for the Elliott and Gigginstown team.
She has always looked like the further she goes the better she will get so stepping up to 3 miles and 5 furlongs should suit her. She’s a massive mare and with Aintree Grand National hero Davy Russell on board she is a definite contender in this year’s Irish Grand National.
Whisperinthebreeze, who fell at Cheltenham, is another on my shortlist for the race and as a novice looks to have a nice prolife.
Paddy Kennedy takes the ride and after getting such a good spin off Magic Of Light when second at Aintree is sure to be full of confidence.
With just ten stone three on his back, Whisperinthebreeze looks an interesting one and can give Jessie Harrington another win in the race.
At a bigger price a horse that has fallen right down the ratings is Valseur Lido. Once rated 169 he will run on Monday off 141 and while his form has been in and out if he could rekindle any of his old sparkle could run a big race.
Young Hugh Morgan takes off a valuable seven pounds as well which will see the horse carry less that ten stone. It’s a small bit of a stab in the dark but around about 50/1 is worth a go!
