Kilmarnock v Motherwell Betting Tips
Motherwell’s six-game winning streak came to an end with a thumping 4-1 defeat away at Celtic, but it’s noticeable that each of the teams they beat on that successful run came at teams outside the top four, with their previous fixture before this period a defeat hosting fourth-placed Killie. The hosts certainly hold the upper hand in recent contests as they’ve won all four since December 2017 and kept a clean sheet in three.
Although they’re not in the greatest of form, their problems have largely been on their travels and they’ve won 11 of their last 12 unbeaten matches hosting bottom-half opponents, also stretching back to December 2017. By contrast, Motherwell have lost 12 of 13 winless matches over this same time against top-half outfits, including all seven this term as they’ve shipped over three goals per game.
St. Johnstone v Hibernian Betting Tips
St. Johnstone have lost five of six winless matches as they’ve slipped into the bottom half of the table. They haven’t had it easy of late with five of these against top-half opponents, but they’ve scored a miserly one strike across these matches and they’ve only emerged victorious once in their last seven in front of their own fans, losing four of the last five. Meanwhile, Hibs made it two wins from two under Paul Heckingbottom with their win over Dundee, leaving them with three from their last five now as the exceptions came against Celtic and Aberdeen.
Admittedly, each of these victories came over the bottom-three sides in the table, who have been cut adrift from the rest of the division, but nonetheless it’s a marked improvement with each success coming by a two-goal margin. Hibs have only lost once in their last eight against bottom-half teams now, and can kick on against the Saints who are there for the taking.
Hearts v Celtic Betting Tips
Hearts beat Celtic 1-0 back in August as the Bhoys started their season in slow fashion, but they’ve since lost two encounters with Brendan Rodgers’ men by an aggregate score of 8-0, as they first met in cup action in October (3-0) before Celtic thumped them 5-0 in the league in November. This hasn’t been a close fixture in recent times, with Celtic winning 11 of the 13 meetings since 2016 as they netted at least three goals in nine of these games in total.
The visitors appear to really have the bit between their teeth, and their Europa League exit to Valencia only seems to have lit a fire as they beat Motherwell 4-1 in a feisty encounter last time out. They’ve now netted 57 times in 20 league matches, winning 14 of these by at least two goals, and rumours that Rodgers’ could take up the vacant hot seat at Leicester don’t appear likely to derail their march to an eighth consecutive title.
