With two rounds still to play in the Serie A season, Roma will need to finish on a high with consecutive wins if they are to have any chance of securing fourth spot and Champions League football. Roma are currently sixth in the table level on points with Milan and three shy of fourth placed Atalanta, nothing short of the three points will be demanded by Claudio Ranieri this weekend away to Sassuolo. Form Labs return with their betting preview and tips for the game while we bring you plenty of value with our selection of enhanced odds.
Roma Need Consecutive Wins
Roma realistically require back-to-back victories in their last two matches to stand a chance at Champions League qualification, though they appear to be finishing the season strongly having won four of their last seven unbeaten matches, including an impressive 2-0 success over Juve last weekend.
However, they won’t likely find Sassuolo to be merely obliging opponents, with the hosts a reasonable W1-D3-L3 hosting the breakaway top eight in the league this term, even if those three losses saw them go down by a minimum of three clear goals.
Sassuolo v Roma Betting Tips
Despite only winning two of 15 outings since the start of February (W2-D7-L6), Sassuolo have somehow managed to just squeeze into the top half of the table, owing that rise in large part thanks to the dismal form of a rudderless Fiorentina.
However, they have been difficult to topple in recent weeks as they’ve only lost once since the start of April (W2-D4-L1).
That sole defeat came in their last fixture away at Torino, where they went down to 10-men following a second yellow for Mehdi Bourabia’s celebrating his first Serie A goal in the 27th minute – at which point they were a goal to the good.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men conceded twice in the last ten minutes in that clash as tired legs began to show, though had they held on for a stalemate it would have been a fifth in six outings.
They’ve also seen more games finish all-square on home turf than anyone this season, drawing nine of the last 14, while Claudio Ranieri’s outfit have hardly been convincing away from home of late.
Indeed, the visitors have only been victorious in one of their last six away days across all competitions and having drawn the last two – at teams as disparate as third-placed Inter and 17th-placed Genoa – we can see the hosts grinding out another point and denting Roma’s Champions League ambitions for good.
