Roma have plenty top play for with a top four still on the cards when they welcome Cagliari this weekend. The Rome giants might be sixth in the table however just six points separates them and Inter in third. Form Labs cast their eye over the game with their betting preview and tips and as ever we have plenty of value in our FanBoosts section with our selection of enhanced odds.
Roma Recent Form
Roma suffered throughout March as they lost four of five games across all competitions, exiting the Champions League in the process despite a relatively kind pairing with Porto, but the manner in which they leaked goals over that period was rather alarming.
Roman native Claudio Ranieri was drafted into the dugout during the middle of that spell and while it initially appeared that he too was struggling to plug the gaps, his charges have since shown greater defensive resolve in recent weeks.
An emphasis on stability as seen them grind out hard-fought 1-0 victories over both Sampdoria and Udinese, but they couldn’t hold onto their lead as they drew away at Inter last weekend, though they at least showed they were competitive once more.
Roma v Cagliari Betting Tips
That stalemate was a big missed opportunity to get back into the hallowed ground of the top four with Milan dropping points at Parma, and the hosts can ill afford to take Cagliari lightly, with the Sardinian club rocketing up the table over the past couple of months having won six of their past 10 matches.
However, while this period included a win over Inter at the Sardegna Arena, five of those six triumphs came there and indeed, eight of their 10 wins over the course of the entire campaign have come on home turf.
On their travels, the visitors have lost six of their last eight and failed to score in five of these games, suggesting Roma’s new found defensive strength should be enough to nick a narrow win.
In fact, Roma have won three of four unbeaten head-to-heads with Cagliari since January 2017, with each victory finishing 1-0 – including both matches at the Stadio Olimpico.
