The Questions
Manchester United v Crystal Palace, who will win?
Manchester United will look to make a winning start to their 2020/21 Premier League campaign when they welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils brought 2019/20 to an end with a 14-game unbeaten run to secure third place and a spot in the Champions League and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be eager to see his men continue that form in the early stages of the new term as they look to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.
History suggests they will make a positive start to the season, having won each of their last five opening-day fixtures.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, already have three points on the board after earning a 1-0 victory over Southampton at Selhurst Park on Saturday with that win bringing an end to a run of seven straight defeats dating back to June and the restart of the 2019/20 season.
The Eagles boss will be boosted by the fact that he saw his side record a surprise 2-1 win here last season though United have looked a different side since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes last January.
Arsenal v West Ham, will Aubameyang score?
In the previous five meetings at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal have scored 12 goals against West Ham and could add to that taly when they face a strugging West Ham on Saturday evening.
Arsenal won in fine style against Fulham and they look like they could be more of a force after last season’s mediocre league campaign and much of that is thanks to the form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The forward has just signed a new contract with and Arsenal after lengthy negotiations and will be looking to prove his worth having scored the winner at Wembley against Chelsea in the FA Cup final last month.
And he’ll likely have a decent opportunity seeing as the Hammers went down 2-0 against Newcastle last weekend while having also been beaten 5-3 in a friendly to recently relegated Bournemouth earlier this month.
Chelsea v Liverpool, who will win?
All eyes will be on Stamford Bridge when Chelsea and Liverpool face each other at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Much is expected of Frank Lampard’s team for the 2020/21 Premier League season, with the club spending over £200 million in the summer transfer window as Chelsea look to mount a challenge for the Premier League title which they last won in 2017.
Chelsea looked impressive in a 3-1 win over Brighton at the AMEX on Monday night but the visit of Liverpool is bound to pose much more of a threat – even with the new recruits now in their ranks.
The Reds recorded a hard-fought 4-3 win over Leeds United in their opener, with Mo Salah completing his hat-trick in the dying minutes of a pulsating match.
One concern for Jurgen Klopp’s team after that game, however, will be his side’s defensive frailties, especially seeing as the back-line has looked so strong since the arrival of Virgil van Dyke.
The Reds looked sharp in front of goal in the triumph over Marcelo Bielsa’s troops though and given Chelsea’s new attacking potential this could be something of a goal-fest with both sides potentially sharing the points.
