Burnley v Liverpool Betting Tips

Burnley have lost five of six winless games since the October international break, including 5-0 and 4-0 defeats to City and Chelsea respectively, while the Hammers also got in on the act with a 4-2 victory of their own. Sean Dyche has established a reputation for defensive proclivities during his time in the Premier League, but it’s all coming apart at the seams this term as only rock-bottom Fulham have conceded more or hold a worse goal difference.

The Merseyside derby provided late drama but Liverpool continue to get the job done and keep pace with City at the top. Derbies are never the easiest games usually, while Everton are up in 6th as they’re having a solid season, but Liverpool have encountered little in the way of problems when facing the lesser lights of the division.

They’ve won all 11 matches against teams outside the current top four, winning by at least two clear goals in six of eight fixtures with those 10th or below in the table. Given the Clarets have lost seven of eight winless matches hosting the ‘Big Six’ teams since the start of last season, it’s hard to look past the unbeaten visitors.

Everton v Newcastle Betting Tips

Jordan Pickford won’t look back on the Merseyside derby with any fondness, but Marco Silva can take pride is teams’ performance overall and they deserved more for their efforts. We don’t expect the result to hold them back from a push for a top-six finish here, especially as they’ve won each of their last five when excluding those traditional ‘Big Six’ outfits. They’ve netted 11 times to their opponents’ two across those games, and will be confident of inflicting another defeat on Newcastle after their four-game unbeaten run came emphatically to an end versus the Hammers.

Although Newcastle’s winless run over their first 10 matches owed a lot to a tough fixture list that saw them face Spurs, Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Leicester and Man Utd, the reverse is also true of their recent form. Indeed, a goalless stalemate away to the Saints and a win over a dismal Burnley is not much to get excited about, while on home turf they’ve beaten Watford and Bournemouth – two teams that were in much better form earlier on in the campaign. The Magpies have actually lost 10 of 11 trips to top-half sides since the start of last season, while excluding ‘Big Six’ outfits, Everton are W26-D5-L2 at Goodison Park since 2016/17.

Wolves v Chelsea Betting Tips

Wolves made a promising start to life back in the top flight with a W4-D3-L1 record over their first eight fixtures, but they’ve since lost five of six winless games and need to address the slide before it descends into a slippery slope. The Blues have shown their own recovery with a comfortable 2-0 victory hosting local rivals Fulham, leading on from the damaging 3-1 defeat at Wembley to Spurs, but that remains their sole defeat in all competitions this term as they’ve largely been impeccable under Maurizio Sarri.

That one defeat aside, Chelsea have kept a clean sheet in each of their last four games now across all competitions, which is just as well given Wolves’ problems of late have primarily been at the back as they’ve still been scoring a few goals. However, Chelsea have conceded more than once against a promoted side just twice in 32 games home or away since 2013/14. Given they’ve netted two goals or more in nine of 10 games under Sarri against those outside the current top six, they should contain the firepower to overcome their hosts, even if Wolves find their way onto the scoresheet.

In fact, the Blues are W9-D2-L1 away at promoted sides since 2014/15, with that solitary defeat coming at Newcastle on the final day of last term, where the Blues had already gone on their holidays having drawn with Huddersfield the previous week in the dying embers of Antonio Conte’s reign.
