Rob Cross v Michael Smith
Michael Smith’s winless run continued after his draw last week, meaning it’s now just three wins in 13 Premier League matches. Rob Cross, meanwhile, sits 2nd with eight wins and made the semi-finals of the German Darts Open at weekend. It’s an easy decision to back Voltage – he’s the 2nd best player in the world – and that’s shown in his domination over Bully Boy with an 11-3 head-to-head lead.
Peter Wright v Mensur Suljovic
Peter Wright’s winless run also continued with an 8-4 defeat to Daryl Gurney, meaning it’s just two wins this season for Snakebite. His poor form doesn’t look as though it’s disappearing anytime soon with a 6-1 defeat to Dave Chisnall in the 3rd round in Germany. Mensur Suljovic, on the otherhand, made the quarter-finals and has won 9 of the last 11 meetings between the two. It’s an easy decision to side with the Austrian.
Daryl Gurney v Michael van Gerwen
Michael van Gerwen won yet another title in Saarbrucken but three of his victories required final leg deciders, which was hot on the heels of his draw with James Wade last week. So, the 1.35 available on the Dutchman once again feels too short. Daryl Gurney has actually won the last two meetings between the players, 7-5 and 11-9, and he is capable of keeping it closer than the 3.5 handicap suggests.
James Wade v Gerwyn Price
James Wade put in yet another great performance last week, averaging 103.66 in his draw with MVG, but Gerwyn Price also played well in his draw v Rob Cross. These two currently hold the two remaining play-off spots and are locked on 15 points, but crucially, Wade has +9 better leg differential. He’s been the more consistent player over the last 18 months, winning 72% of his matches compared to the Welshman’s 63% and he also leads their head-to-head 6-3 (one draw).
