Mensur Suljovic v Daryl Gurney
Both Mensur Suljovic and Daryl Gurney have identical records as they sit tied for 12 points in the league in search of a play-off place. It’s Gurney that is showing more consistency this year though, winning 66% of his matches compared to Suljovic’s 56%. Superchin leads the head-to-head 8-5, winning 4 of the last 5, including both their Premier League meetings 7-3.
Rob Cross v Michael van Gerwen
1st plays 2nd here in a top of the table clash between Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen. Cross may be top but his 73% win percentage this year is dwarfed by Mighty Mike’s impressive 86%. This is fully justified based on performances with MVG averaging 101.81 to Cross’ 98.19 since the beginning of 2018. The Green Machine has won 13 of their 16 meetings, winning all four Premier League matches by four or more legs – 7-2, 10-6, 7-2, 7-2.
Michael Smith v Gerwyn Price
Three wins plays four here but Michael Smith has lost twice as many (6) than Gerwyn Price and their league positions of 8th and 4th actually shows a true reflection of performances. Price is averaging nearly two points higher than Smith – 98.68 to 97.17 – and that’s justifying his win % with a 75% success rate compared to Bully Boy’s 61%. The Welshman is the value as the outsider.
James Wade v Peter Wright
It’s an easy decision to back the Machine James Wade here. He won both Players Championships events this weekend to add to his success the weekend before. Peter Wright, on the other hand, first exited at the last 16 then didn’t even make the last 32 the next day. Wright has just two wins in 11 and that’s reflected by their overall success rate this year. James Wade has won 73% of his matches where as Snakebite has managed just 56%.
