We start the second weekend of the Premier League season with the two Manchester clubs sitting at the top of the league after both having convincing wins last weekend.
It would be a very interesting bet if you fancied that to be the case come the end of the season and FansBet do have first week special on site at the moment – both Manchester teams to finish 1 and 2 at the end of the season in any order at 12.00!
MANCHESTER CITY VS SPURS
As for both their fixtures this weekend both have very difficult games, City are entertaining my old team Spurs in the late kick off on Saturday evening and United will be travelling to a ground they lost twice at last season, Molineux to face a strong Wolves team.
Spurs were good last weekend coming from behind to beat Villa and I could never back my old boys to lose to I’m going to predict a strongly contested score draw!
WOLVES VS MANCHESTER UNITED
United had an impressive result against Chelsea but I think the score line flattered them somewhat and I wonder how they will fare against a more defensively minded team who don’t leave themselves as open as Chelsea did.
All that said Wolves offer a different proposition under the lights on Monday night and will provide United with a real test. I like the signing of Harry Maguire and having Paul Pogba (below) in the right frame of mind is a always a bonus! I think a confident United will provide too much for Wolves.
The Championship has been as heavily contested as always with Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton setting the early pace with two wins from two.
The table seems to be shaping up already apart from my old team Blackburn being sat at the bottom, but I am very confident this will not continue.
In fact I think they will pick up their first points of the season beating Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Going to do a little treble prediction for the weekend including Blackburn and the 2 early pace setters.
Blackburn, Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday all to win
Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton have away fixtures at Barnsley and Millwall respectively which are both winnable games for teams in form and without doubt provides a treble with great odds.
THE OLD FIRM
Last little bit from me for the weekend is a look north of the border where Stevie G has made a fantastic start to the season with Rangers and is on course for Europa League qualification.
With two wins already for The Gers I can’t see them slipping up away at East Fife.
Celtic suffered yet another disappointing European night crashing out of the Champions League in that 5-4 defeat to Cluj but I think they will bounce back with a win at home to Dunfermline.
My bet is both the Old Firm to win by more than 2 goals.
