Paul Robinson: All Is Not Well At Spurs

FansBet ambassador and former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson is here to give his tips ahead of this weekend's big fixtures.

Paul Robinson

Looking back at my picks and predictions from last week, the Chelsea vs Liverpool game I went for both teams to score and Liverpool to edge a tightly contested game.

That came through thanks to Jurgen Klopp’s side seeing through a 2-1 win due to goals from Roberto Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

For Friday night’s game between Southampton and Bournemouth I tipped a guaranteed both teams to score, which it developed to be with the Cherries winning 3-1.

The final game of last weekend I looked at was Burnley versus Norwich and I tipped the Clarets to win a close game which they did 2-0, so if you followed my picks last week you should be in the money!

My clean sheet selections clearly still need some work through as only one out of the three predictions came in with Manchester City trouncing Watford eight nil.

But I will try again this week for elusive three out of three.

WHAT IS GOING ON AT SPURS?

Mid-week brought us some big upsets in the Carabao Cup.

The three that I picked as potential banana skins almost all came through!

Unfortunately from my point of view Colchester knocked out Spurs on penalties while a strong Chelsea easily saw off Grimsby town and a struggling Manchester United needed penalties to knock out a resilient Rochdale.

I can’t write this week without having a look at my old team Tottenham Hotspur and wonder from a distance as to what’s going on.

For them to lose against Colchester in the way that they did is unacceptable for a team of Tottenham’s standards, yes they dominated possession and chances but they can’t lose games like this.

Clearly all isn’t well, listening to the manager and Harry Kane in recent interviews and seeing the manager’s body language makes you wonder if this is the first rumblings of him looking to move on.

He just hasn’t looked happy, things haven’t looked right and haven’t sounded right either. This isn’t the Tottenham team we have come to know over the last few seasons.

I don’t think the uncertainties surrounding major players contracts has helped the situation, with Christian Eriksen publicly stating he wanted to leave in the summer. This can’t be used as an excuse any longer with the window being closed, the squad should be settled but it isn’t.

Pochettino looks flat and disgruntled. To me he looks like a man who’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, all is not well.

They currently sit eighth in the table and already ten points adrift of leaders Liverpool and you have to wonder if the gap is already too big for them to make up.

The game this weekend against Southampton at home is an absolute must win for them. Despite the issues I am confident they can pull through at home, especially as their last league game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium ended in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace

Spurs are one of my pics for the weekend for a clean sheet and a good win. I’m going to go for a three nil victory and Son to score.

TOTTENHAM VS SOUTHAMPTON ODDS

Another one of my clean sheet picks this weekend is highflying Liverpool. the Anfield machine just keeps on going with six wins from six already.

A trip to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United this weekend. I don’t think will pose them too many problems I can see them winning this with Adrian keeping a clean sheet.

ADRIAN TO KEEP A CLEAN SHEET – 2.00*

My third pick for a clean sheet this weekend is a low scoring but point collecting Leicester City.

They sit third having only scored eight goals in comparison to Liverpool’s 17 and City’s 24.

The way that they have started this season and the way that others haven’t got going makes me think I Leicester have a real opportunity to push for a top four finish.

The inconsistency of the North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham and the seeming unrest and turmoil surrounding Manchester United means someone like Leicester City have a real opportunity.

They play on Sunday against Steve Bruce’s Newcastle at home at the King Power Stadium and they will win this comfortably while keeping a clean sheet.

LEICESTER VS NEWCASTLE ODDS
