Paul Robinson: Leicester can be the ones to end Liverpool’s perfect start

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson gives his picks ahead of another busy weekend of Premier League action.

Paul Robinson

Let’s start this week by looking back at last weekend’s picks and predictions by myself and those of you who follow me closely should now be into some decent profit.

Especially those of you who chose to take on the ‘blue weekend’ with Chelsea, Manchester City and Leicester all winning to complete a fantastic treble.

My three clean sheet predictions were almost as good with only Spurs letting me down at home with that Hugo Lloris error, but all 3 results came to fruition.

Tough week for Tottenham

I spent a lot of time last week writing about my old team Tottenham Hotspur and the seeming unrest and uncertainty surrounding the squad and the manager.

This was more than evident on Tuesday night in what can only described as an embarrassing defeat at home to Bayern Munich, in fact a record-breaking defeat.

I was working for sky and covered the game for the midweek soccer special programme and watched in amazement at Tottenham capitulate shortly after half time. They played like and a look like a team with a whole world of problems.

Pochettino had a clear the air meeting with the squad this week after the game so it is yet to be seen if this will have the desired effect.

Our first look at Spurs again is this weekend in what is now potentially a tough trip to the south coast to face Brighton.

Already 10 points off the top of the league, out the EFL Cup and an uphill battle to qualify from Champions League group stages and it’s only October, not the start anyone would have wanted or even predicted.

Leicester can outfox Liverpool

There are no such problems for Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester who, as predicted, comfortably saw off Newcastle at home and sit pretty in third place.

Brendan makes his return to Anfield this weekend to face his old club Liverpool and I think they will be Liverpool’s toughest test so far this season.

All conquering Liverpool once again didn’t look convincing on Wednesday in Europe as they sneaked past a decent looking Salzburg 4-3 after being 3-0 up and as good as they have been in the premier league they are yet to fire in Europe for me and

I can see Leicester playing this game as a free hit, almost as a marker to see how far they have come and can potentially go this season.

That’s why I believe they will be the ones to end Liverpool’s 100% record and leave Anfield with a point, maybe even all 3 at a very good price of 6.75* as, even if by law of averages, someone has to take points off Liverpool soon.

Though if you don’t agree, the Reds are 15.00* to go through the entire season unbeaten.

Something for the weekend

I enjoyed the little special I put together last week and I’m going to try and replicate it this weekend for you.

Looking at Sunday’s games now and four of the Premier League’s so called big boys have games that, in years gone by, they should win.

So for that reason I’m going to predict that all four will win their games and create a special FansBet price for a Sunday special which is: Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd which was 5.50 and is now 6.00.*

Good look and remember loyalty wins!
