Pep Guardiola is not one for taking his foot off the gas with the Spaniard expected to set his team out to ensure they secure top of Group F with victory over Hoffenheim. Form Labs bring you their betting preview and tips for the game and if you are looking for some more enhanced value then check out our selection of Fan Boosts for the Champions League.
Manchester City Already Through
Manchester City secured their spot in the knockout stages with a late equaliser at Lyon in the last round. That result puts them three points clear at the head of Group F, with a point here enough to guarantee a more likely favourable draw for the knockouts. Pep Guardiola’s men pushed on from that European stalemate as they beat both Bournemouth and Watford, but they were downed by the Blues last time out, which ended their 21-game unbeaten league run that stretched back to early April.
Hoffenheim Domestic Form In Good Shape
Hoffenheim have been ticking along nicely in the Bundesliga with four wins from their last seven unbeaten matches. Unfortunately, that form hasn’t transpired through to the European stage as they’re yet to win a game in the Champions League this year, while since the start of last season they’ve gone W1-D5-L7 in European competition when including the playoffs.
Champions League Acca Betting Preview, Tips and Enhanced Odds – Group Stage Round 6 Wednesday
That record includes their six matches in the Europa League last term as they played all of Sporting Braga, Ludogorets and Istanbul as they could only manage a solitary victory. If they can’t fight it out with those poor sides, we don’t give them much hope against the tournament favourites.
Guardiola’s Champions League Record
Guardiola has an impressive record in this competition, even if the last time he lifted the trophy came back in 2010/11 with Barcelona. Indeed, he’s won 19 of his 23 home group stage matches since that start of that season, as his only defeats came when his Bayern team lost to his current side in their final group game in 2013/14, while the other came this season in a shock 2-1 opening round defeat to Lyon.
The Spaniard knows what is needed to get the job done, and with a large squad itching to get game time, the competition for places should ensure there are plenty of focused minds out there on the pitch as they’ll want to put the memory of defeat at Chelsea behind them.
Hoffenheim Eyeing Up The Europa League
Julian Nagelsmann’s men still have a chance of reaching the Europa League, so they won’t be sending a weak side to Manchester. The visitors should at least fancy getting on the scoresheet as only the current top two in Germany – Dortmund and M’gladbach – have netted more than them domestically so far this term, while they’re averaging two goals per game in the Champions League this season.
In fact, both teams have found the net in all 13 of their European games since they started qualifying and although we expect the Citizens to come away with victory, Hoffenheim should still find the net. Indeed, the hosts have conceded in 16 of their 22 European outings since 2016/17, including seven of their last 10 at the Etihad, but given their sensational scoring form this term, the win and both teams to score looks the value bet.
Valencia v Manchester United Preview, Betting Tips And Enhanced Odds
The German side will be without suspended duo Kerem Demirbay (midfield) and Adam Szalai (striker). However, their absences shouldn’t affect their output in the final third as coach Julen Nagelsmann likes his teams to attack, while four players have netted more than Szalai this term anyway. The Citizens have a slight issue of their own with defensive midfielder Fernandinho one booking away from a suspension, and his absence only increases the German’s chances of scoring.
Manchester City v Hoffenheim Betting Tips
Sergio Aguero remains out injured and so Gabriel Jesus should be afforded another opportunity having had to make do with appearances off the bench for the most part.
He’s only been handed four starts in the league and three in the Champions League, but in total he has four goals from those seven games.
That includes a hat-trick in his last European outing at the Etihad last month and is our choice to strike first.
