Bury v Notts County, Saturday 20th October, 15:00
Notts County are finally up and running as they’re unbeaten in five having won their last three, though while Harry Kewell will be happy with the improvement he’s overseen, each of these victories came against sides below Bury in the table.
The hosts have lost just once in their last eight, but stalemates with bottom-half outfits Northampton, Mansfield and Crewe in their last three leave a lot to be desired.
Given Bury have suffered defeat just once on home turf this season (W3-D2-L1), coupled with Notts County’s current unbeaten streak, the draw appears the way to go in this fixture.
Morecambe v Colchester, Saturday 20th October, 15:00
Morecambe endured a torrid start to the campaign as they lost seven of their opening eight fixtures, but they’ve since gone W3-D1-L1 with their 2-0 victory over mid-table Carlisle in their last match their best performance of the season to date.
They’ve been entertaining for the neutral over this recent period, with all but that latest result featuring more than two goals as there were 19 successful efforts across the five games in total.
Meanwhile, there have been at least three strikes in nine of Colchester’s last 10, with the exception still featuring two goals, while here have been an average of 4.2 goals across their last five outings.
MK Dons v Northampton, Saturday 20th October, 15:00
Northampton have shown signs of improvement recently as they’ve lost just once in their las five (W1-D3-L1), going unbeaten in the three games under Keith Curle so far, though another point here would represent a good result and that’s realistically the best they should be aiming for.
Their hosts have lost just once all season, against league leaders Lincoln, but their six drawn as many times as they’ve won (six) as only Mansfield (seven) and Forest Green (eight) have endured more stalemates.
Northampton are the only other side to reach that threshold of six draws so far, while their problems have largely surfaced against the weaker teams. Indeed, Lincoln are the only side 13th or higher in the table to topple them as they’re W2-D4-L1 against such teams.
With that in mind, MK Dons may have to settle for two dropped points against bottom-half opposition for the fifth time this season.
