Stefanos Tsitsipas v Rafa Nadal
Having been given a walkover by Roger Federer, Stefanos Tsitsipas finds himself in his third consecutive semi-final. He beat Rafa Nadal at this exact stage last week in Madrid, but no doubt the ‘king of clay’ will be out for revenge. Indeed, the Spaniard has faltered at the semis in each of his last four tournaments, though one of those was through retirement (Indian Wells), as Fabio Fognini, Dominic Thiem and Tsitsipas have all gotten the better of him. However, he looks to be firing on all cylinders this week having dropped just two games so far, so we’re struggling to see a way the Greek can produce another upset.
Nadal has won all the other three meetings between these two in straight sets, with each of them occurring within the last 13 months. That puts the ball firmly in his court and with Tsitsipas’ price shortening in too much from their meeting last week (5.54 to 4), we’re happy to side with Nadal to do it in straight sets. Not to mention, the underdog is W3-L4 against the current top-10 this year, with each of those defeats in straight sets.
