Group E Wide Open

Group E is incredibly open at this stage after expected winners Croatia suffered defeat away in Hungary, though the World Cup finalists did respond to that result by beating Wales on Saturday, even if they were perhaps a tad fortunate.

Indeed, though they bossed possession, Zlatko Dalic’s men were reliant upon some poor defending from the Welsh to get the job done, only registering two shots on target over the course of 90 minutes.

Ryan Giggs’ side needed to be more ruthless in taking their chances, and failure to do so here could prove fatal to their prospects of qualification.

Hungary Top Of The Table

Hungary shouldn’t be underestimated after winning all three home games against Greece, Estonia and Finland during the inaugural UEFA Nations League, aided by some vociferous support behind them, before then backing it up with that victory over Croatia in Budapest.

They should also be fresher for this encounter as Wales’ last game was played in scorching temperatures reaching 30 degrees, and with Croatia boasting nearly two-thirds of the possession, Giggs’ players will inevitably be tired and he’ll have to make a few changes to his starting line-up as a consequence.

Hungary v Wales Betting Tips

Although Gareth Bale inevitably leads the goalscoring markets, the Real Madrid winger hasn’t enjoyed the happiest of times in recent months and hasn’t been quite as influential for the national side either.

Instead, there’s greater value to be found behind Hungary’s leading marksman, Hoffenheim forward Adam Szalai, who has an impressive record of 20 goals from 55 internationals, including five from his last six as he scored in all three home games over this period.
