Previous CD winner Canford Bay looks to have solid claims to add another victory to his tally. He has posted some solid efforts recently including a 3rd place finish here and a victory at Wolverhampton, before last time finding the step up to class 2 company a bit too hot. This looks easier and with Harry Russell taking 7lb off today he should be able to be competitive once more.
This lightly raced Iffraaj filly gives the impression there is more to come over this type of trip. All 4 runs she has been doing her best work late including on handicap debut last time in a decent Class 2 event at Wolverhampton. This is significantly easier and the David Simcock yard is currently in red hot form with 4 winners from his last 11 runners. Callum Shepherd takes over in the saddle today and is 6 from 15 in the last year at Kempton with the yard’s runners.
Treasure Dillon looked a progressive novice hurdler last season but things have not really worked out for him after a promising reappearance run at Cheltenham back in October. He made an error at a crucial time next time back at the same venue before falling 3 out here in January, while his last run over an extended 3 mile on soft ground looked to put too much demand on his stamina. A drop back in trip looks the right move and this is a much easier race than the Cheltenham races he has not been beaten far in. Trainer Jockey combination of Ewan Williams/Adam Wedge continue in fine form with a 34% strike rate in the last 30 days.
