Unbeaten in his 2 starts to date Nikolson has to be respected for the Murphy/Johnson combination but he does need to take another step forward to defy the penalty. The Cob showed some promise in 3 bumper runs last season but looked to have benefited from some time off the track when running a promising race on hurdles debut. Trainer Ben Pauling is having a good time of things at the moment with 5 winners in the last month and hopefully he will be adding to that total here.
Put in a solid performance just 5 days ago when finishing 3rd over this course & distance. That looked a slightly stronger race than this and should go very close if able to settle better in this larger field.
Lightly raced son of Getaway who would have finished closer on handicap debut over course & distance last time for a bad mistake 2 out. Expected to build upon that effort today and that effort suggests his unchanged rating is one he can win from. The Skelton’s continue in fine form and the partnership have an excellent record at their local track.
