A comfortable winner just 2 days ago at Huntingdon, Ibleo is expected to complete a hat trick of victories today. Both recent successes have come over 4f shorter but the manner of those wins suggest that this extended trip will bring out more improvement and looks potentially well treated under a penalty. Venetia Williams continues in fine form and she has a 25% strike rate with her handicap chasers returning to the track quickly.
No surprise to see a competitive renewal of this years Dovecote novice hurdle with 6 last time out winners in the line-up. Unbeaten on his 2 starts over hurdles Highway One O Two has created a good impression with the manner of those wins. He was particular impressive last time when giving weight all round to a couple of ok types. The switch to a right-handed course looks a positive move and trainer Chris Gordon is not one to pitch his horses in at higher level without thinking they have the ability to be competitive.
In what could be a good day for the Paul Nicholls yard, Adrien Du Pont is taken to come out best of his 3 runners in this Grade 3 Handicap. A previous CD winner and 5 lengths 3rd in this race last season the selection has seen his handicap mark drop this winter to a 6lb lower mark now on the back of a couple of poor performances. Like so many from the yard he has had a mid-season break and comes here a fresh horse. His record when returning after a break is an encouraging 3 wins from 7 and a return to form is expected today.
