Stepped up on previous form when a CD winner 22 days ago and a reproduction of that effort from a 9lb higher mark should be enough to take this handicap. Lightly raced with just the 3 chase starts there was a lot to like about that front running and he looks a chaser on the upgrade. Trainer Warren Greatrex has a respectable 26% strike rate with his runners following up next time up.
Was a wide margin winner at Doncaster in January and looked to be likely to be involved in the finish last time out when a serious error 4 out ruined any chance. Received a wind op since that last effort and despite the drop back in trip he should be able to dictate the pace from the front before putting his extra stamina to good use on this galloping track.
Not the horse of old who was running well in some good quality handicap hurdles a couple of years ago and had mixed results over fences. The switch back to hurdles looks the right move and showed much more promise last time out when finishing an 8 length 4th in a stronger race than this. That run suggests some form has returned and the handicap mark has now slipped to one in which he can win from. Often front runs and despite the large field this race does not look overloaded with early pace and could just have a nice time of things out in front.
