Treble Dream Alive

Celtic secured their first big win since a switch in the dugout in their 3-0 semi-final win over Aberdeen, keeping their ‘treble treble’ dreams alive as they kept a sixth clean sheet in seven outings in the process, with this just the second time across these games where there have been more than two goals.

However, while they were the dominant side in the early stages against the Dons, they certainly benefited massively from a pair of red cards, with Dominic Balls’ 36th-minute sending off coming with the scores still goalless, while the Hoops could only add one more goal to their tally after Lewis Ferguson received his marching orders in the 67th minute.

Hibernian v Celtic Betting Tips

Across all competitions, each of the last three head-to-head meetings between these two since December have seen just two goals, with Hibs coming away with the spoils in the first clash, before Celtic won by the same 2-0 scoreline in both encounters during 2019 to date.

In fact, six of Hibs’ last seven league clashes with the four teams above them in the table have featured no more than two strikes, as have eight of their last nine at home to anybody.

Similarly, five of Celtic’s last six road trips have seen fewer than three goals, with Celtic winning the past five as two finished 1-0 and another two ended 2-0.

Neil Lennon’s outfit may largely be labouring to victories at present, but the champions possess the experience and know-how to see out tight games and with that in mind, the away win and under 2.5 goals represents good value.
