The Serie A title race might be done and dusted, however the small matter of Champions League football remains very much in the headlines with just six points separating Inter in third and Torino in seventh. Atalanta are very much part of that discussion after a third consecutive win last week puts them just a point adrift of Inter and two ahead of AC Milan. This weekend they welcome Genoa looking to consolidate that position and keep the heat on Inter Milan. Form Labs break down the action with their betting preview and tips for the game while we bring you the value with our Serie A enhanced odds.
Fiorentina Recent Form
Fiorentina are enduring a miserable end to the season as they’ve lost six of 11 winless games, including four of their last five as they even went down against bottom-three outfits Frosinone and Empoli.
That leaves them with the worst form in the division at present, and a stuttering Milan will be grateful for the timing of this fixture as any more slip-ups at this stage are likely to prove fatal in their battle for Champions League football next term.
Milan Recent Form
Gennaro Gattuso is under a lot of pressure after just two wins across the Rossoneri’s last nine matches in all competitions (W2-D2-L5).
However, they have largely endured a tough fixture list as these included clashes with top-half outfits Inter, Sampdoria, Juve, Lazio (twice) and Torino, while Fiorentina have sunk into the bottom half of the table following their recent results.
Fiorentina v AC Milan Betting Tips
These two have been difficult to separate in head-to-head meetings in recent years, with both of them W4-D3-L4 since 2013/14, as eight of the 11 encounters saw fewer than three goals.
However, although Fiorentina have been listless of late, we couldn’t trust Milan to deliver a victory given their current problems in front of goal.
January signing Krzysztof Piatek propelled them into pole position for fourth place during his first couple of months at the club, but the goals have dried up somewhat with just two in his last nine appearances across all competitions and none in his last five.
That leaves a low-scoring affair as the likely outcome and indeed, four of Fiorentina’s last five league games have seen just the single strike or none at all, with the exception coming against Juve.
In fact, 10 of their last 14 home games have seen fewer than three goals, including five from seven against the breakaway top eight in the league.
Meanwhile, 10 of Milan’s last 13 on the road have gone under that threshold and if they do edge this clash, it will almost certainly be by a slim margin.
