It’s the final race week before the summer break as we head to Budapest for 70 laps this Sunday of the Hungaroring. What drama will we have ahead of this race weekend?
The big breaking news that we have heading into this race weekend is that four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the season.
The German, who made his debut with BMW Sauber in the 2007 United States Grand Prix, revealed the news via his newly created Instagram account – his first foray into social media.
Vettel won all four of his championships with Red Bull between 2010 and 2013 and is third on the all-time list of Grand Prix winners with 53 victories.
Should Sebastian have no issues and take part in all the race weeks until the end of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be his 300th , which will be a fitting number to end on.
Back to focusing on the Hungarian GP, the Championship is starting to edge closer and closer to Max Verstappen’s trophy cabinet.
He again will be fighting for pole position and another race win most likely going toe to toe with Charles Leclerc again.
Even though Ferrari had picked up the previous two race wins (Silverstone and Austria), the mood for Ferrari fans and owners is dropping week by week.
Charles now finds himself in a position where he could win the remaining races and still not walk away with the world championship title in Abu Dhabi.
Away from the top of the championship, there is a very interesting battle brewing between McLaren and Alpine.
There are currently only 4 Championship points between the teams in the constructors and only 15 points difference in the F1 fantasy leagues.
With both teams pushing their upgrades in recent and upcoming weeks this battle for 4th is only going to push both teams on to earn maximum fantasy points for those owners who want to look for some value away from the fight at the front of the grid.
Currently, only 5% of F1 Fantasy team owners have picked Alpine as their constructor with the team currently sitting at $14M, this can free up a lot of spare budget when looking at which drivers to add.
A final reminder, this is the last week you can play your first Mega Driver and your first wildcard transfers.
After this week we will head into the summer break and when F1 and F1 Fantasy return in late August in Belgium, you will have your second Mega Driver and Wildcard available.
The ones from the first half of the season cannot be transferred over to the second half, so use it this weekend or lose it.
So where can you earn some extra points this weekend for the Hungarian GP?
Three constructors are in line to be able to trigger the race streak bonus should both their drivers manage to finish in the top 10 again this weekend.
Mercedes is the first and I expect another strong showing from the Silver Arrows as they continue to close in on Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship.
Looking good in Budapest! 🇭🇺

The other two are currently battling for 4th in this year’s championship, both Alpine and McLaren can trigger bonus race streaks and earn their owners an extra 10 points this weekend.
In terms of drivers, there is only one man you can look to in order to receive a bonus this weekend.
Max Verstappen is in line to trigger his second driver race streak bonus of the season and could earn his owners an extra 10 points should he manage to finish in the top 10 at the Hungaroring.
For those still to play those Mega Drivers, these extra 10 points will earn you an extra 30 points should you want to pick Max as your last chance to play your card.
With only one race left before we head into the summer break, What’s Verstappening is the current leader of the Fansbet Blog F1 fantasy lead with 2,374 points.
The standard of the first Fansbet Blog F1 Fantasy league has been very high so far this season and we have seen 34 different teams break the 2,000 points barrier already with I expect more to follow from this race weekend.
So, with it all to play for who will head into the summer break leading the league?
