Wow, what a start to the season!

Who saw both Red Bull’s ending up as DNFs? What a battle we had between Charles and Max, who thought the tyres would be struggling as much as they did?

If we can have this sort of action and drama for the rest of the season, I think we will all be happy fans.

Also, it’s race week once again! This week we have the Saudi Arabian GP which takes place at the brand new Jeddah Corniche street circuit.

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit was introduced to the F1 calendar last season and takes place under the lights like its Middle Eastern counterparts in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

If you have not seen any of the action from last year, the best way to describe this track is fast, actually very fast is probably better.

Quite simply, it’s the fastest street circuit ever seen in Formula 1 but also features the most corners on the calendar with 27. With 50 laps of racing action to look forward to on Sunday, anything again could happen around Jeddah this weekend.

The first thing to note for all fans wanting to watch the action this weekend is that all sessionS take place in the later hours of the day with lights out on Sunday AT 18:00 GMT. The perfect way to send your weekend evenings in my eyes.

What can we expect from Jeddah this weekend?

After Bahrain, we have a better understanding of the performance of every car and driver and how they should be looking going into this race weekend.

Some teams will come with upgrades to improve their cars but with only a week between these first two races I don’t expect to see any massive improvements from any team to come until we line up in Australia in April.

With that being said I do expect this weekend to be another Ferrari vs Max battle at the front of the grid. The Ferrari’s have looking strong in most situations that have been thrown at them so far and I don’t see Jeddah changing that this weekend.

Max Verstappen however, will be wanting to make amends for the drama of last season here. He not only crashed on his last qualifying lap in which he would have easily taken pole, but there was drama throughout the race with incidents with Lewis Hamilton happening throughout.

This week for betting is a lot like last, there are some indications, but I still believe we could be for some shock results.

We ended up coming away from last week with tipping Charles Leclerc for pole, the qualifying gap and also a banker in the safety car to be deployed. This week the odds on a safety car are even less than last with it being only 1.12 for it to be deployed this Sunday.

These low odds are unsurprising when last year there was one safety car period, two red flags, and four virtual safety car periods. I think there will be a safety car and maybe even a red flag this weekend but the lower value this weekend makes the risk pointless to me.

Anything and I mean anything can happen this year at Jeddah. The first lap and corner has the potential to have multiple cars DNF or for all cars to get clean round with no issues.

After the clean start of last week, I’m going to go for at least one incident and a DNF on lap one. There can be some value to be had in the 1^st retired market if you can pick the right name out of the hat.

My tip for first DNF would be Fernando Alonso at 21.0, I’d pick him as he is likely to be in the middle of the pack and does tend to get away well, but this could lead to him getting in a situation that sends him in to one of the walls.

My final tip for the weekend would be for Sergio Perez to end up on the Podium at 3.25. I believe this circuit will be very strong for the Red Bull cars along with their sister team Alpha Tauri due to their power they have seen in clean air.

The big question will come with the issue both teams saw last weekend but I believe these issues will be easily fixed for them and we will see them but on a solid show this weekend.
