Everton will be looking to inflict more misery on Watford when they host the Hornets at Goodison Park on Monday night. After a bright start to the season Watford are looking to avoid a fourth straight league loss while Everton are looking to bounce back from their Derby loss to Liverpool and midweek draw with Newcastle. Form Labs returns with their betting preview and tips.
Everton Looking To Get Back To Winning Ways
Everton may have been held to a stalemate hosting Newcastle last time out, but they get another crack versus beatable opponents at Goodison Park against a Watford side that have lost four of their recent five winless outings. Two of these may have been at the hands of City and Liverpool, but those were at Vicarage Road and in the three that came on their travels, they managed just a stalemate with Southampton and suffered defeats to Newcastle and Leicester.
We’re not overly concerned by Everton’s draw at home to Newcastle. Rafa Benitez is always capable of setting his team up to grind out a point, while the Toffees are highly consistent on home turf. Excluding top-seven finishers or the current top seven, they’ve gone W26-D6-L1 here since the start of the 2016/17 season, while they’ve netted 73 times across these games.

Watford Poor On The Road
By contrast, Watford have struggled badly on the road as they’ve gone W2-D3-L14 away over the past 12 months. Four of the five occasions where they’ve avoided defeat have come this season, but to put those results in perspective, three came against the teams currently occupying the slots in the relegation zone, while the other came against a Wolves side in the midst of a run of five defeats from six winless matches.
Although Marco Silva has a reputation for expansive football, his Everton side have still registered clean sheets in three of their last five hosting those teams outside the top seven, as Fulham, Palace and Cardiff were kept at bay.
Everton v Watford Betting Tips
The Hornets’ current form places them alongside those teams at present, while they’ve lost each of their last nine trips to top-half outfits as they scored just the solitary strike across these, producing a combined score of 21-1. Given Etienne Capoue is suspended, their chances have taken a further hit, leaving the home win to nil as the standout option.
