England v India, 3rd ODI
After India won so comfortably in the first ODI this game was looking like it may well be a dead rubber, but England bounced back impressively at Lord’s with their spinners in fact outperforming India’s to level the series. The decider’s played at Headingley, which is one of the best places to bat in the country when the sun’s shining and so we’d be keen to back ‘overs’ in the run lines, whilst 1.6 for a hundred to be scored in the match looks very solid given it’s happened in both games so far.
Headingley isn’t normally a ground that spins and so this may well turn out to be a shootout between the two batting line-ups. If that materialises then we’d have to be with England at the prices – the likes of Raina, Dhoni and Pandya looked pretty ineffective at Lord’s whereas England have more power and depth in their batting line-up. Jos Buttler is yet to show the brilliance he displayed against Australia and indeed over the last year or so and as a result we’re expecting him to put in a big performance here and be the match winner for the hosts, who also look good value to hit more sixes.
For the visitors, Shikhar Dhawan looks the value in the top batsman market as third favourite. He’s looked in excellent touch throughout and gotten starts before giving it away but with the middle order looking fallible, we expect him to take more responsibility and make his good form count.
