Chelsea v Man City: Blues out for Wembley revenge

The game could be the first of three encounters between the two sides before the end of the season - explains David Johnstone.

Chelsea face Manchester City in a match that will decide who goes on to the FA Cup Final to play either Leicester City or Southampton.

The encounter will give several of the Chelsea players the chance to gain revenge against a side that beat them in the 2019 League Cup Final on penalties.

A tight game in which there was little to choose between the two sides ended in a 0-0 draw after extra-time and the match went to penalties, with City eventually coming out on top winning the shoot-out 4-3 after Jorginho and David Luiz missed.

Perhaps, for many, the game will be remembered for the incident in which Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa refused manager Maurizio Sarri’s instructions and remained on the pitch despite the Italian wanting to swap him with Willy Caballero who has a reputation for being an expert at saving spot-kicks.

LATEST ODDS: CHELSEA v MAN CITY

With both Chelsea and their FA Cup opponents having reached the last four of the Champions League after their second-leg matches in midweek, this game at Wembley could be the first of three encounters between the two sides before the end of the season.

With these two meeting in the Premier League next month, Thomas Tuchel could well have to pit his wits against Pep Guardiola again in Istanbul if both sides beat their respective opponents in the Champions League.

As far as the FA Cup Semi-Final is concerned, I’ll be placing my money on a draw after 90 minutes and hoping that The Blues go on to win the tie in extra time, the price being 15.00 with our friends at FansBet.
