Changes Expected For Chelsea
Maurizio Sarri will likely freshen things up as he did in the previous round against Malmo, though it didn’t prevent them from securing comfortable progression and the Blues should be registering another routine victory here.
They’ve won 19 of 21 matches hosting teams from outside the ‘Big Five’ leagues in Europe since 2011/12, despite over half of them coming in the more refined air of the Champions League, including all eight at Stamford Bridge since 2015/16 as they’ve netted 25 goals and conceded just twice.
Ukrainian Teams Poor On English Soil
Ukrainian sides have had a torrid time on English soil this century as they have lost 22 of their 27 winless trips. Indeed, Dynamo Kiev account for 11 of these winless trips, losing nine of them and failing to find the net in seven, though only a strong Man Utd team (and eventual Champions League winners) in 2007/08 were able to embarrass them as five of these games finished 1-0.
Attack is certainly not going to be the best form of defence for Kiev, especially as they’re short in the forward department heading into this clash.
Chelsea v Kiev Betting Tips
The visitors are hampered by the suspension of their top scorer across all competitions, Benjamin Verbic, who has 12 goals for the season including three from seven appearances in this tournament.
He’s joined on the sidelines by the injured Fran Sol, who only arrived in January, leaving them short of options in the final third.
Chelsea do have such players and Gonzalo Higuain will find himself rested here with Olivier Giroud consistently delivering the goods in the Europa League this term, as the Frenchman has registered six goals in his past five appearances in this competition, finding the net on each occasion.
