Leeds v Blackburn Betting Tips
This fixture has a certain amount of inevitability about it with in-form Leeds at home to a Blackburn side that just can’t seem to get going on the road. The Rovers have now lost three of their last five winless trips and although two of those matches were against impressive opposition in Middlesbrough and West Brom, they’ll be against yet another competitive side on Boxing Day.
The Whites have been clinical at Elland Road this season as they’ve won seven of their 11 matches as only Birmingham could get the better of them. Perhaps even more impressive is the league best of conceding just six strikes on their own patch this term, and we fancy them having prevailed in both of Blackburn’s visits in all competitions since 2016/17.
Norwich v Nottingham Forest Betting Tips
The Canaries have now won each of their last five home matches and you wouldn’t want to bet against them making that six. They’ve blown their opponents off the park as they’ve averaged 2.6 goals per game across this spell, netting 10 in the last three, as they’ve dominated both the possession and shots on target stats in each. Those are worrying signs for Forest, who conceded five times away at Aston Villa at the end of last month before resorting to a more defensive approach to hold Derby to a draw – though the Rams did have a dead cert penalty denied.
Even with that lucky escape, Forest still possess a woeful record against top-half teams on the road, winning just three of 30 trips since 2016/17, losing 19 of these. Moreover, their record against top-four opponents across all venues reads W1-D3-L8 since the start of last season, including a defeat in the reverse fixture this term, and so we can’t see them causing an upset at the fortress that is Carrow Road.
Sheffield United v Derby Betting Tips
The neutral fan is in for a treat this Boxing Day as these two sides at the business end of the Championship battle it out. Sheffield Utd may have suffered defeats to Leeds and West Brom in their last two matches at Bramall Lane, but the former capitalized on a dreadful defensive error in the 82nd minute, while they should’ve been out of sight by half-time against the Baggies. Nonetheless, this is a difficult place to travel to and with those being their only two defeats here so far, while they’ve maximised their points against the likes of Norwich and Aston Villa already, the Blades will fancy getting back to winning ways.
Derby haven’t been excelling away from home this season as they’ve only won four of their last 10. Three of those victories came against bottom-half sides and while the other came against West Brom, Darren Moore’s men were in the midst of a poor run of three defeats from four winless outings. What is worse, the Rams four away defeats in this time came against Millwall, Rotherham, Bolton and Stoke. Although the latter have been fairly competitive this season, the former three have all been struggling down in the lower depths of the division. Such is the turbulence of Frank Lampard’s men on the road that we would much rather be with the hosts for this encounter, especially since the Blades won this fixture 3-1 last season and this could well go a similar way.
