Normal service has resumed in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic now eight points clear of their rivals Rangers at the top of the table. Last time out they managed a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock, however with Rangers being help by St. Johnstone, Brendan Rodgers’ team were able to consolidate their position. Motherwell come into this one off the back of a 2-1 win over Hearts and will be in a confident mood at Celtic Park on Sunday. Form Labs previews the clash and bring you their betting tips to help you find the back of the net.
Both Sides On A Roll
Both these sides are on a real roll at the moment and while winning six on the trot is hardly anything unusual for the hosts, they’ve been impressive nonetheless as they’ve struck 14 goals without reply, while Motherwell have banged out six consecutive victories of their own.
However, as impressive as the visitors have been of late, five of these games came against bottom-half opposition as the highest-ranked team they encountered was fifth-placed Hearts.
Five of the six victories came by narrow one-goal margins to boot, while the win hosting Hearts in their last outing was rather fortunate as goalkeeper Colin Doyle made a right clanger to hand them the full three points at the death.
Motherwell Struggling Against the Big Teams
Motherwell haven’t enjoyed so much success against the four teams above Hearts in the table, going W1-D2-L5 against such teams this season, including 7-1 and 3-0 defeats when visiting Rangers and Celtic respectively.
That should be a major concern with Brendan Rodger’s team delivering the goods at home this term, winning all 13 matches, and though they were a little slow out of the blocks in the early stages of the campaign, they’ve since ramped up their output.
Celtic v Motherwell Betting Tips
The last nine at Celtic Park have seen them win by at least two clear goals in each, netting 31 goals to their opponents combined three.
Meanwhile, six of the last eight have seen them triumph by a minimum of three goals, as no one has penetrated their backline in the last six of these outings.
Celtic may have suffered disappointment in Europe, but results on the continent haven’t prevented them from dominating the domestic scene in recent years.
Celtic have won by two goals or more in each of their past six games hosting Motherwell across all competitions since the start of 2016, keeping a clean sheet in all but one of these, while two thirds of these saw them win by three goals or more.
With that in mind, this should prove a fairly routine victory for the reigning champions, with a repeat 3-0 scoreline from when these two last met of interest.
