We preview QPR's meeting with Aston Villa on Friday night.

QPR v Aston Villa, Friday 26th October, 19:45

QPR’s season is going from strength to strength having won three of four unbeaten outings.

Moreover, if we look as far back as their victory over Bolton in September, they’ve won five of eight matches, only dropping points against top-eight sides Norwich, Swansea and Derby.

That is pretty outstanding seeing as they lost their opening four matches of the season and they now look a much more accomplished outfit under Steve McClaren.

Aston Villa meanwhile, overcame Swansea in their first game under Dean Smith, but they couldn’t make it two from two as Norwich came from behind to steal the three points from beneath their feet.

Steve McClaren’s men have been clinical in taking points from sides below them in the table this season, winning each of their last five against such teams, while keeping a clean sheet in each of the last four.

However, although Villa are lying in 16th place they haven’t had problems in the goal scoring department with only WBA, Sheffield Utd and Leeds netting more, as 12 of their 14 matches have seen both sides get on the scoreboard.

With that in mind, we fancy the QPR and both teams to score as the host have conceded in seven of 10 fixtures this term when excluding bottom-six sides. In fact, on home turf they only have three clean sheets in 23 matches going back to the start of last season.

Since netting the winner against Wigan back in August, Tomer Hemed had gone seven games without a single goal, though he started just four of these.

It seems the international break has reinvigorated him however, scoring Israel’s first goal from open play against Albania, while he’s since gone on to score in each of the Hoops’ last two outings.

The striker will fancy his chances against this Villa defence too, as they’ve conceded in all seven road games this season, shipping an average of two per game across the last five.
