Manchester City hold the cards in the title race after their win in the Manchester Derby midweek, however Pep Guardiola’s team will be tested when they travel to Turf Moor to take on a physical Burnley. Form Labs return with their preview and betting tips for the game while we have plenty of value in our FanBoosts section with our enhanced odds.
Title With Man City’s Grasp
The reigning champions went back to the top of the table following victory over their Manchester rivals at Old Trafford (prior to Liverpool facing Huddersfield on Friday night).
That means a win in each of their last three games will guarantee them top spot, starting with this trip to Turf Moor.
Nine points from three matches is a tough task for most teams but given the Citizens have won 11 straight Premier League outings, they’ll be confident in backing themselves.
Burnley Recent Form
Burnley are also enjoying a decent run with three wins from four unbeaten matches, with the last of them an impressive stalemate at Stamford Bridge.
That means they’ve now lost only one of their last four fixtures against ‘Big Six’ sides, with their sole defeat coming at Anfield, while they defeated Spurs in their only game here as they were also level at the break in three of them.
In fact, since their promotion to the Premier League for the 2016/17 season, they may have lost 12 of their 16 matches hosting the ‘Big Six, but on nine occasions they’ve been level at half-time.
Even though they don’t have a whole lot to play for now, it’s not in Sean Dyche’s DNA to fold over and we expect to make life more difficult for the Citizens than United could manage on Wednesday night.
Burnley v Man City Betting Tips
Excluding the top-six sides, Pep Guardiola’s men have won each of their six matches since mid-February, but half of these were goalless after 45 minutes.
In fact, that was also the case against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men on Wednesday night too and although they may well run out victorious over the 90 minutes, we still expect the Clarets to successfully weather the first half storm.
In fact, Sean Dyche’s charges have only been behind at the break once in their last nine games across all competitions at Turf Moor, with that being thanks to an own goal from Phillip Bardsley.
Moreover, City’s only two visits here since 2016/17 saw them produce a Draw/Win in the HT/FT market back in November 2016, while last season they had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate.
