Hosts Brazil open up their Copa America 2019 campaign when they take on Bolivia in what is expected to be a one-sided affair. With Neymar out of the tournament due to injury the focus up front will be on Champions League winner Roberto Firmino and Premier League Champions Gabriel Jesus as they look to be the source of goals for the favourites. Form Labs bring you their betting preview and tips for the game while as ever we haven the value with our selection of enhanced odds.

One-Sided Affair Expected

The opening game shouldn’t be much of a contest and we’re certainly not expecting any upsets. Bolivia have only ever reached the final of the Copa America on two occasions, in 1993 and 1997, hosting the tournament on both occasions.

The visiting minnows only narrowly avoided last place in World Cup qualification by virtue of picking up some home victories in La Paz, with other sides unaccustomed to the altitude, losing all nine on their travels including a 5-0 battering when facing Brazil.

Tite’s men were able to call upon Neymar on that occasion, with the PSG superstar bagging a goal and two assists on the day, but it’s not as though there aren’t other attacking talents within their set-up and a similar outcome should ensue.

Brazil v Bolivia Betting Tips

Two of the last three head-to-heads have now finished 4-0 and 5-0, with the former even played in La Paz, while four of their last six encounters in Brazil since 1993 have yielded 5-0 or 6-0 scorelines.

In fact, Brazil’s final pre-season tournament friendly saw them batter Honduras 7-0 in Neymar’s absence, with goals from six different players, and by way of comparison, Bolivia are 63rd according to FIFA’s world rankings while Honduras are actually two places higher.

The one player who did grab more than a solitary strike in that game with Honduras was Gabriel Jesus. Although the Man City forward had a tough season being second fiddle to Sergio Aguero, he still managed 21 goals across all competitions, working out at a strike every 107 minutes.

Meanwhile, his goalscoring record for Brazil is pretty decent with 16 from 29 caps. He’s bagged five goals in their past three games (a goal every 33 minutes during his time on the field), and against weak opposition he’ll be seeking to get off to a flying start in the race for the Golden Boot.
