Victory for Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano would not only be the perfect end to their home season but will also secure bragging rights in Madrid as it will guarantee they finish above city rivals Real. Sevilla however will throw everything at Diego Simeone’s team as they still have a shot of finishing fourth. Form Labs breaks down the action with their betting preview and tips for the game while as ever we bring you the enhanced odds which can be found in our FanBoosts section.
Sevilla Still Eyeing Fourth
While Atletico had Champions League football sewn up some time ago, Sevilla are still fighting for that fourth and final spot, despite losing three of their last four.
They’re three points adrift of fourth-placed Getafe and while they face a tough trip to the Wanda Metropolitano, Getafe have to go to the Camp Nou.
The main issue for Joaquin Caparros’ men though is their woeful record travelling to the ‘Big Three’ in La Liga (Barca, Real Madrid & Atletico).
Indeed, it’s been a decade since they won a league encounter at any, with their current streak 25 defeats from 30 winless trips.
They’ve hardly been close either as 17 of the defeats were by at least two clear goals, while 14 of 20 trips since the start of 2012/13 have seen them trail at both half-time and full-time.
Atletico v Sevilla Betting Tips
The visitors’ only saving grace is that Atletico have nothing to play for and like last week at Espanyol, they may throw in an under-par performance.
However, they’ve been so impressive at the Wanda Metropolitano since moving there at the start of last season and they’ll been keen to protect their record here.
They’ve only lost twice in the league over this period, while this term alone, they’re W15-D2-L1, conceding just nine goals.
Sevilla, meanwhile, have lost seven of their last nine on the road and just because they have something to play for, the market has been swayed too far in their favour as Atleti look way overpriced for a side so strong in front of their own fans.
