Barca Winning Run Ended
Barcelona’s winning streak was ended by an improving Valencia last weekend and they face another side on the up in Bilbao. Since replacing Eduardo Berizzio with Gaizka Garitano, the Basque club have gone W4-D3-L1 compared to W1-D8-L5 prior to that.
Their only defeat came in their last fixture at Sociedad, but on home soil they’ve won three of four unbeaten games, with the last two victories against top-six sides Real Betis and Sevilla.
Now, the Catalans represent a step up, but Bilbao picked up a point in the reverse fixture at the Camp Nou as they’ve now drawn four of their last five against the ‘Big Two’.#
Athletic v Barcelona Betting Tips
With Bilbao revitalised, this could be a tricky night for Barca who have shown they’re vulnerable on the road in the Copa del Rey recently, losing at both Sevilla and Levante. What’s more, Jordie Alba is suspended and the left-back has been a key member of Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Twice he’s been on the bench this season but has otherwise played a full 90 minutes on 20 occasions, providing seven assists in the last 12 of these.
The two matches he failed to start, was the recent stalemate with Los Che while the other saw them lose to Leganes in their only away defeat this term.
Since the start of last season, Barca’s win ratio drops from 76% in the 28 matches he’s started compared to jus 50% in the 10 he has missed, so we’ll take a chance on the draw.
