Champions League Spot At Stake
This is a massive game in the race for Champions League football and both sides arrive in good form. The hosts can however boast the slightly better recent results as they’ve won six of eight unbeaten matches across all competitions since they last tasted defeat in December.
Two of the draws came at home to Juve and Roma in league action, while one of the other fixtures was also against the Bianconeri in the Coppa Italia as they swept away Ronaldo and company with a 3-0 win.
In fact, Atalanta have drawn four of seven Serie A encounters with the top seven in the table (the teams realistically in contention for Champions League football next term), with only Napoli inflicting defeat on them.
Meanwhile, Milan are W1-D4-L3 in such fixtures including recent stalemates with both Napoli and Roma, while they also beat the former in their own Coppa Italia quarter-final success. It’s difficult to split the two and indeed, four of the five head-to-head meetings since 2016/17 have ended in stalemates.
Atalanta v AC Milan Betting Tips
All but one of those draws saw fewer than three goals, though the most recent clash in the reverse fixture this season finished 2-2, while both teams found the net in three of the games as two finished 1-1.
Atalanta are the divisions’ real entertainers with their 2-1 win hosting SPAL taking them up to a half-century of goals this term, though they also possess the worst defensive record in the top half of the table and they don’t tend to be involved in too many low-scoring encounters.
Given Milan have seen their output improve over the last few games since the signing of Krzysztof Piatek, the score draw is our preferred bet.
In fact, all four of Atalanta’s stalemates with those top seven sides have finished either 2-2 or 3-3, while three of Milan’s four draws with such teams have seen both teams register on the board.
