Amy Murphy Blog

Amy Murphy and her team are at the double as she describes two reasons to celebrate at Yarmouth on Thursday in her latest FansBet update.

Warm weather and an even warmer welcome back to the winner’s enclosure!

Regular readers will know last week I used my FansBet blog to discuss a frustrating run where plenty of the string were running well and making the frame, but not quite getting their heads in front.

We put that right and in some style at Yarmouth on Thursday afternoon, as in the space of less than two hours Nirdoha and then Thegreatestshowman gave the team a lovely double.

Naturally I was chuffed with how both of them performed.

Having only her second spin on the racecourse after a cracking debut effort when second on the all-weather at Wolverhampton 16 days ago, Nirodha put that experience to great use when running out a neck winner of the six furlong novice race.

Apprentice Sean Davis was on board and chose exactly the right moment to mount a challenge and put her head in front about a furlong from home, after which she stayed on dourly to see off a well touted odds on favourite.

A daughter of Camacho, Nirodha is still green and unfurnished, so she’s only going to get better as the season goes on.

She’s one I’d advise FansBet followers to keep their eye on.

Happily the afternoon got even better a little later, as the usually wholly consistent Thegreatestshowman bounced back in style to win after a lesser effort at Doncaster four weeks ago.

His length success in this five furlong handicap proved that whatever got the better of him last time out was simply a run to put a line through, and he was back to his true self with this energetic performance.

He won nicely in the end so we’ll see what the handicapper does and then find a race to try and follow up in due course.

As for the conditions this week, the hot weather has provided the squad here at Southagte Stables with a different type of challenge, one they’ve risen to magnificently I have to say. The staff have been coming in at 5am, ready to ride out at 6am, meaning we’ve got the bulk of any riding and exercise out of the way by 10am and the worst of the heat.

Hats off to them, as usual they’ve come together to help, whatever is thrown in their direction.

I’m updating my blog on Friday lunchtime, prior to a busy afternoon and evening in which we’ve got horses running at Thirsk, Uttoxeter and Newmarket.

Fingers crossed they all enjoy themselves and come home fit and well, another winner would be lovely!

Looking further afield, one name I’m looking forward to running next week is Just Later. He’s in at Yarmouth on Tuesday as well as Nottingham on Thursday, so we’ll see how those races shape up and take a view nearer the time.
